Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Ground War is a different approach to a familiar mode. With over 100-player matches planned, this will rival the Battlefield series' Conquest mode.
One of the Ground War maps is a huge downtown city location with skyscrapers, a bank and numerous roads to travel through. Members of the media have already experienced 64-player matches, but the developer's have mentioned that games of over 100-players are being tested.
A match has players tasked with capturing five different points while using vehicles like choppers and APCs to reduce the distance between points, mow down the enemy or both. Teams are able to play defensively, locking shields and bunkering down in strategic positions to prevent their opponents from securing points of their own, or going all out on the offensive.
Killstreaks like the Juggernaut is also available in the mode to reward players with more tools of mayhem. Cover can be found almost everywhere but there are also long stretches of road that are ideal for sniper attacks and game changing ambushes. Another great move by Infinity Ward is the absence of fixed classes, allowing players to mix and match different tools to create a soldier that fits their own unique playstyle. You will also be able to change it up as you please, ensuring players can quickly adapt to different events during the battle.
Infinity Ward's studio narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki confirmed on Twitter that new campaign footage will be released for the game soon. There's still no news whether this footage will be what the press saw at E3 2019 or something new. His statement could mean a Gamescom reveal since the event is scheduled to hold on August 20, but it could also be before or after that event.
In the past few weeks Infinity Ward has opened a faucet of information that will likely continue to build up as we draw closer to the game's release. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25, but the beta will be available in September.
