Back in July, Infinity Ward made mention of a tournament mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but no details have been shared since then.
Thanks to the effort of dataminers affiliated with VG Sources, game files for the PC version have revealed 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 matches in the new tournament system. The built-in feature will use a bracket system which has only been associated with the Gunfight mode for now. It also doesn't give any indication of how many rounds there will be or what rewards winners will receive.

These files could be the remnants of tests that the developer is yet to remove from the game, so take the news with a grain of salt. There's also no confirmation whether other modes in the game will make use of the system, but it's an interesting possibility.
Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25, but there's no assurance that the tournament system will be available at launch.
