Legendary Malaysian Dota 2 player, Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng returns to Team Secret’s active roster as a stand-in for Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore.
YapzOr’s absence wasn’t explained, but the team has jokingly claimed that he’s still busy trying to complete Death Stranding. ONE Esports Singapore will be MidOne’s first LAN since The International 2019. The Malaysian player took an extended break from competitive Dota to recuperate after all the stress of last season, while Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen joined the squad as his replacement. MidOne’s name later reappeared as a member of a new team called SEAMonkeys in late November.
Team Secret has been shuffling its roster roles about a bit, and since YapzOr usually plays support, it’s unknown what role MidOne will play during the event. However, Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg has played support in the past and could be moved there for the tournament to allow MidOne to take his current offlane role.
ONE Esports Singapore will be Team Secret’s first major competition in Dota Pro Circuit 2019/2020, following their decision to skip the first two events of the season. Their late start puts them behind most of the opposition in terms of points, meaning they’ll have their sights set on replicating last season’s early success.
The ONE Esports Singapore Group Stage schedule is live, with the tournament running from December 17-22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang. You can catch all the action on ONE Esports’ official Twitch channel here.
