Microsoft was top-tricky to hide Keanu Reeves on E3 2019

Keanu Reeves' appearance at Microsoft Xbox E3 2019 presentation caused a real sensation. While the actor was presenting the new Cyberpunk 2077 trailer and announcing the release date, the audience and the whole world looked enthusiastically at the scene and could not believe their eyes. Definitely, this event was one of the most memorable among all the briefings of the exhibition. It turned out that for such an effect, Microsoft did some incredible tricks to keep Keanu's visit secret.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox Game Studios, told reporters that the other person was playing Reeves' role at rehearsals. His real name during the preparation was not called at all, instead, all those involved used a code word. Keanu himself did not enter the pavilion throughout the preparation and until the very moment of his appearance on the stage.

Microsoft itself had little doubt about using Reeves's image. The organizers feared that the reputation of many actors fell over the years, and their attitude towards them changed dramatically. It seems that this does not apply to Keanu: the whole world adores him for his modesty and sincerity towards everyone around him. And cuteness. And he likes dogs. 

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released April 16, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
