Metro Exodus releases soon on Microsoft Store – but not on Steam ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!
In an ironic and slightly insulting way, Microsoft has officially revealed that the PC version of Metro Exodus will launch in just three days on Microsoft Store. Yep, that very same game was supposed to be an Epic Store exclusive for a full year. Steam, by the way, is still the part of this schedule, and the game will return there only after February 14, 2020.
There wasn’t any announcement regarding the Metro Exodus release on Microsoft Store, but the game has suddenly appeared in the library. Apparently, this should’ve been a “surprise” planned for E3, but someone pushed the button a bit early. One way or another, we’ll definitely hear more about that during the Microsoft press conference at E3. The situation raises a lot of questions, and the most obvious one – whether it is some sort of war against Steam. You don’t simply give away your exclusives left and right, and while the fate of Metro Exodus on Valve’s storefront hasn’t changed, the game is unexpectedly losing its Epic Store exclusivity in the favour of Microsoft Store. This is just another case of an unfair turn of events for Steam users.
Metro Exodus is about to release on June 9. Interestingly, the 4A Games’ title will support all the cool features of Xbox Live that are currently absent at the Epic Store – like achievements and cloud saves. Do you know where else the store infrastructure has the same options and even more? That’s right – on Steam.
