Metro Exodus: how to get a good ending and comfort from the game
Metro Exodus: how to get a good ending and comfort from the game ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!
The Metro series has always been different from ordinary shooters by the many mechanics involved in the gameplay. Metro Exodus has become even more complicated, adding crafting mechanics and half-open locations. Now the player is free to explore the world and modify weapons at any time. Does it sound complicated for you? Well, I’ll give some tips that will help get the most pleasure out of the gameplay, and ideally, even lead to a good ending.
Melee fight is your best weapon
It looks strange, but the developers made the game in such a way that you can stun the enemies, even if they have already noticed Artyom. And it’s great! In fact, you can play a role of the warlike pacifist by running around the arena and slapping slightly to the head in a non-lethal way the enemies who don’t deserve to die. Also, inject the first-aid kits between stunts, and hope not to be killed. Is this a plan? The good plan! So the game passage turns bloodless and is played cheerfully.
MONITOR THE FILTERS
That's right, caps lock. Because it’s incredibly important. The game regularly lets you go down to the basement for loot or plot needs, so it’s reasonable to keep the filter time at 12 minutes or so. The filters as loot can be found literally in two places of Metro Exodus, so you have to craft.
Be peaceful when NPCs ask for it.
We are informed in the first location that local sectarians basically aren’t evil people. And they prove it if you approach their patrols with hidden weapons and a flashlight off. You can hide the weapon by holding the H button.
If you can escape from the fight - flee
First of all, it concerns mutants. Shooting at them rarely pays off. The exception is when you shoot crossbow arrows or throw knives. Remember how mother taught: there are many monsters, and you’re alone. You can restore ammunition only at workbenches, and the loot, which is in the mutants lair, isn’t necessarily unique. The same body kits can be found in less dangerous places.
Don’t make noise at missions with the teammates
Artyom is involved in operations together with several members of the squad several times per game. The goal is to reach a certain point, and it’s important to remember that in this battle you are responsible not only for yourself. Try to do everything silently, if you don’t want troubles for your friends (hmm, it sounds like a threat).
Shooting people is wrong, got it?
Firstly, because shooting often works askew. We wrote about this in our Metro Exodus review. The impact of hits isn't always making any sense: there is little pleasure in general.
Secondly, killing people affects the ending. If you show excessive aggression, then at the end of the location (and even at the end of the game) this may have unpleasant consequences. And vice versa, companions are praised and encouraged for the protagonist’s peacefulness.
Thirdly, when Artyom sneaks up at an enemy location, he can hear interesting dialogues that reveal the history of the world. Or just funny. In any case, this is part of the world, and it’s right to give them to happen.
Don’t forget to charge all that you can charge
Namely: a flashlight and a night vision device (hold F, swap with LMB), pump guns (hold R, swipe LMB).
Take off your gas mask
The main character won’t let you forget to wear a gas mask with the help of characteristic sounds, but how to remove it - the game won’t tell you anything. Most likely, the mask can be safely removed when the dosimeter stops making noises, and there are no longer any strange vapours around. In any case, worth a shot.
Monitor the weapons and gas masks condition
Guns tend to be contaminated by water, sand and other external loads. That’s death for the automatic weapon: it jams more often, the control of recoil is worse, and the accuracy seems to be reduced. It’s not so dangerous for shotguns: a large-calibre gun didn’t give a single misfire through the game. Artyom can use a backpack (I) and restore the guns condition at any time. It’s the same with a gas mask: mutants and crazy bullets sometimes reach the face. By the way, it can be patched with tape (G) in the battle, but this is only a temporary solution.
There is no need to explore the world for no reason
This game doesn’t reward as much as we would like. Most often, Artyom is forced to flee from a flock of ghouls, rats, guards or bandits so as not to waste precious ammunition.
Explore the world for a reason (c) Laozi, 322 century BC
The companions sometimes mark places of interest on a map in locations open to research. You can find the great loot at these places, overhear important conversations or save prisoners, which will improve the attitude of the locals towards Artyom. Remember that killing people is still wrong.
But still, can I shoot at people? Well, if I want to
Yes. You can even get a good ending with the shooting. But not too often. For example, our journalist Sergei (who made these tips, by the way) didn’t see a reason to sympathise with the oilmen in the Caspian desert, and therefore he killed every single one. But at the same time, he went to points of interest and freed the captives. The good ending as a result.
Perhaps these tips can help you to enjoy the game. If there is something important that we forgot to mention - don’t be shy to write it in the comments below.
