Mercedes-Benz signed the F1 2018 simulator team

Esports players will live on the team racer base

Mercedes-Benz storms into esports: the company opened the F1 2018 simulator division. The team consists of four player (or pilots, so to say):

  • Brendon Leigh, winner of previous season of F1 Esports Series 2018

  • Harry Jacks, the 2017 tournament finalist

  • Patryk Krutyi, experienced pro-player

  • Dani Bereznay, the F1 eSports Pro Draft finalist

The squad was announched in the company’s official twitter account:

“We're buzzing to announce the newly founded Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports team, competing in the 2018 @F1 Esports Series in October and November! Meet the crew and check out what they'll be up to here at HQ!”

Organizers of the esports league used Pro Draft tournament to pick 40 best racers that Formula 1 teams could sign contracts with. Pilots who showed best potential took part in virtual races, got their physical and intellectual capabilities checked and did the go-cart races.

Mercedes-Benz representatives mentioned that the new squad will be based on Formula 1 base where they will have all the best conditions for training.

Second season of F1 Esports Series will be held by two version of the game: first stage took place in F1 2017 this spring and second stage will start this fall after F1 2018 is released. The tournament prize fund is $200,000 which will be distributed among the participants.
