MDL Chengdu Major NA Qualifier - Day 1 recap

The MDL Chengdu Major Closed Qualifiers are well underway, with ten teams in each region competing for a spot. Being the first Major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2019-2020 season, anything can happen as new rosters prove their worth. The top three teams qualify for the main event, while 4th to 7th place will move on to the Dota Summit 11 Qualifiers. 

The tournament began on October 5 and will end on October 7. Today's North America qualifier matches will start in a couple of hours, but here's a recap of yesterday's action. 

Group A Standings

Yung Suck Gaming forfeited their first match to Evil Geniuses but secured a win against DoZe. Team Xolotl lost both matches of the day to J.Storm and Evil Geniuses, while DoZe lost its second match to J.Storm. 

Group B Standings

In Group B, Quincy Crew defeated Team Named and Team Plus to earn 4 points. Fighting Pepegas also won both its matches against Team Plus and Demon Slayers, but the latter managed to beat Team Named. 

Today's matches will conclude the Group Stage and usher in the Playoffs. Here are the scheduled matches of the day:

Can the top four teams maintain their positions and reach the Playoffs? Evil Geniuses are the favourites to win this, but an upset or two could spice things up nicely.
