Square Enix has announced a multiplayer game in the Marvel Universe! Marvel’s Avengers developed by Crystal Dynamics got a first-ever gameplay-story trailer at E3 2019 presentation today.
Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix name this one a "multi-year, multi-game partnership".
So in San Francisco, The Avengers are celebrating a new facility opening. And of course everything starts messing up, terrorists are trying to get a newly made energy source, the heroes fail to save people and a tragedy happens. The Avengers disband. "Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes," Square Enix says. This game can be played in online co-op with up to three friends.
The cast is cool though. Nolan North will inhabit Tony Stark, Troy Baker will be Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey gets mysterious as Black Widow, Jeff Schine leads the team as Captain America, and Travis Willingham will be Thor.
Marvel’s Avengers have a "completely original story." The game is made in the games-as-a-service model, with Marvel told us that it will "introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come." All expansions will be free, no loot boxes. DLC will include new Marvel characters, such as Ant-Man.
Marvel’s Avengers is out on May 15, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and Windows PC. The beta test will launch at PlayStation 4 for those who have pre-ordered the game.
