Malta is now officially supporting game development and esports

Malta has made a crucial step to officially recognize the importance of video game development and esports by signing a memorandum between the government of the country and world famous esports organizer ESL. This might actually serve as a precedent for future similar progress in other countries.

The initiative was titled as Malta’s Vision for Video Games Development and Esports. At its core, this vision includes directions for potential economic growth thanks to creating new job opportunities in Malta; it also gives the whole gaming and esports industry a much-needed official approval and support that might help the future generations to realize them in this sector of the economy. Moreover, Malta has acknowledged that video game development and esports hugely contribute to the global flow of funds, and therefore the country intends to keep the talents within and to help them in order to develop a healthy and supportive environment. The initiative is likely to turn Malta into some sort of Silicon Valley for game development and esports, and it’s highly likely that the welcoming conditions will draw the attention of industry talents from across the whole Europe.
