Canadian esports organisation Luminosity Gaming has signed the former 789 squad to its Apex Legends roster. They joined Xeon who will act as the Head Coach.
The Russian roster consists of Anton “xaniyaa” Shkuratov, Elvira “Esdesu” Temirova and Maxim “Exens” Dmitriyuk. As 789 they were an org-less team that managed to finish in 5th place at the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational, taking home $39,000. Exens used to play for CIS organisation ROFLANQ before joining xaniyaa and Esdesu.
789 performed better than many top teams at the Preseason Invitational, like Counter Logic Gaming, G2 Esports, Sentinels and NRG Esports. Complexity finished in 40th place at the event and 14th at the X Games Minneapolis EXP Invitational which occurred before it. That roster has now departs as it failed to place well in any major tournament and wasn’t able to win any prize money either.
The former Complexity roster consisted of Ryan “Crank” Grandy, Hogne “chipzy” Krogsæther, and Justin “JP2” Pate. The organisation’s first Apex Legends lineup had Justin “Yogi” Desse, chipzy , and Derek “Sloth” Diaz who competed in the H1Z1 Pro League together. Yogi and Sloth soon left the roster to be replaced by Crank and JP2.
Considering Esdesu and the team was able to achieve so much without an organisation, it’s going to be exciting to see what they can do with Complexity’s resources behind them.
