The American organisation, Lowkey Esports has signed another Asian team. They just acquired ZeGg Esports, a Sri Lankan CS:GO roster with a local line-up.
Lowkey Esports' first venture in Asia was when it entered the competitive Dota 2 scene in September. They created a Philippines roster which consists of popular players and caused much fanfare. Their new Sri Lankan CS:GO roster includes:
Geeshan "Defiance" Jayaraj
Omal "Roach" Prabuddha
Shakir "Hikka" Razak
Sanjeev "BeN" Kalaieesan
Zayyaan "HeLLScreaM" Ali
ZeGg Esports managed to qualify for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2019 South Asia Qualifier as the Sri Lankan seed but failed to attend due to visa issues.
Their signing also comes on the heels of Sri Lanka becoming the first South Asian country to legitimise esports on September 26 officially. Minister of telecommunication, foreign employment and sports, Mr Harin Fernando passed the order under Section 28 of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973 of the National Assembly.
Lowkey Esports already has two Counter-Strike rosters in North America, one of which is an academy team. Also in North America, they compete in Fortnite, Splatoon 2, and PUBG. In South America, they have an Overwatch and Rocket League teams.
