Le'Veon Bell competes at his first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event

The line between sports and esports began to blur some time ago, with many athletes creating their own esports organizations to dominate on the virtual pitch as well. New York Jets star Le’Veon Bell makes the jump into esports as well, but instead of team owner, he decides to become a competitor. 

The star athlete arrived at a local tournament in Columbus, Ohio, called Ultimate Pizza 30. Equipped with only a GameCube controller and Mega Man, Bell proceeded to take sets against his opponents as he worked his way to the top 20.  

Using the handle Juic326, which is a combination of his nickname Juice and his jersey number 26, he eventually lost to Rich “Wizard Guy” Phillips, a local champ. Bell then managed to take one set in the Losers Bracket before dropping out of the tournament in 17th place. 

The NFL star shared a video on his Instagram with the caption, “This is my first Smash tournament.” In it, he showed off the venue and his controller, but there weren't any videos of his matches.  

According to other players that were present, Bell put on a good show. Whether he chooses to get even better and compete in major tournaments is the real question.
