International Pro Evolution Soccer league welcomes a new team

Do you like FIFA? Yeah? And what about soccer? You say it's the same thing? Not really my friend. In eSport, we have two “different” games for supporters of football. EA Sports came up with FIFA, while Konami (Japanese entertainment and gaming conglomerate) developed their title called Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) in 2001 for the European market.

With this new video game on board, it was only about a time when someone will develop league for the best players in the world. And who could be better for this than a professional football player, right? Gerard Piqué, Spanish centre-back in Barcelona is a Founder and President of eFootball.Pro league where prestige football clubs can compete in eSport version of football.

So far, Barcelona, Schalke 04, and AS Monaco have been announced as the first members of the international league. And today, we can add to the list another legendary club, Scottish Celtic F.C. which will recruit two players to represent the club through the year.

Gordon Kaye, Head of Business Development of Celtic F.C. added:

“Following our partnership with Konami, creating a PES team to challenge for the inaugural eFootball.Pro title is an exciting first step into the evolving world of eSports and we look forward to competing against top international teams.”

Also, Gerard Piqué discussed the move:

“It’s great news that Celtic joins our competition. I have faced them several times as a player and I know that they will show in eSports the same integrity they display on the pitch. Having a club with so much history will give us the necessary values to make our league a model in the sector.”

And what about you guys, what do you prefer - FIFA or PES? Hit me with your thoughts!
