LCS has changed the Spring Split Finals for 2020 from a LAN format to an online format due to coronavirus concerns. This announcement from LCS isn't much of a surprise to the esports community, given the current state of League of Legends esports or esports in general. The coronavirus, or COVID-19, epidemic has caused multiple events across multiple industries to be canceled, rescheduled, or entirely reformatted.
This announcement also comes after the LCS was confirmed to be continuing despite a portion of players voting to cancel the season entirely. The portion of players wanting to see the spring season canceled was in the minority, which is a big reason why the season will continue to move forward.
Chris Greeley, the LCS Commissioner, released this statement regarding the restructuring of the 2020 LCS Spring Finals:

With the local and state guidelines to stay at home and slow the spread of COVID-19, we wanted to confirm that like the remainder of the regular season and the rest of Playoffs, the 2020 LCS Spring Finals will take place online. We're still planning on making the 2020 LCS Finals a memorable and exciting event for our teams, players, and fans on April 18 and 19.
