Kristoffer "Kristou" Aamand will join North on loan from AGF, and will stand-in for Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye as he takes an extended break due to medical reasons.
Kjaerbye stepped away from the active lineup during North's ESL One: Road to Rio run after experiencing "abdominal pains, breathing problems, and chest cramps." This prompted head coach Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtsson to jump in as a stand-in.
Now, it seems Kjaerbye is expecting to be out for longer than originally anticipated, making North in need of someone replace him for a longer period of time, which is where Kristou comes in.
Graham Pitt, Head of Esports Operations for North, released a statement regarding their reasoning for selecting Kristou:

We have been collecting and tracking data on a number of young talents in the Scandinavian region as part of our expanded scouting directive in 2020. When it became apparent that we would need a short term substitute due to Kjaerbye's unfortunate situation, we wanted to take the opportunity to look at the future and use a young and developing talent. Among the many players that were at the top of our metrics, further analysis from our coaching team lead to Kristou standing out as a player that had the qualities that we desired for the role we were looking to fill. We are looking forward to seeing him play during our run in Dreamhack Masters.
With the addition of Kristou, North is now made up of:
- Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen
- Nicklas "gade" Gade
- Philip "aizy" Aistrup
- René "cajunb" Borg
- Kristoffer "Kristou" Aamand (Stand-in)
- Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtsson (Coach)
- Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye (Break)
North will take on GODSENT tomorrow, May 16, as they continue in ESL One: Road to Rio.
