With the first season of the Korea StarCraft League organised by Blizzard having finished on the 8th of September, the second iteration of the league is set to start in just over a fortnight. The offline portion of the qualifiers took place just yesterday, leaving the scene in shock over multiple upsets, as various notable powerhouse players will be missing from the upcoming edition of the KSL.
The highest finishers of the first season, Terran player Kim ‘Last’ Sung Hyun, Zerg Kim ‘SoulKey’ Min Chul, and Protoss Jung ‘Rain’ Yoon Jong, received direct seeds to KSL2.
The remaining Terran representatives, who successfully fought their way through the qualifiers, are:
Shin ‘Leta’ Sang Moon
Park ‘Mind’ Sung Gyoon
Jeo ‘Sharp’ Ki Seok
Lee ‘Light’ Jae Ho
Jung ‘JyJ’ Young Jae
The Protoss lineup:
Kim ‘Bermuda’ Jae Hoon (also known as ‘JaeHoon’)
Jin ‘Movie’ Young Hwa
Byun ‘Mini’ Hyun Je
And the Zerg:
Kim ‘Action’ Seong Dae
Lim ‘Larva’ Hong Gyu
Han ‘Where’ Doo Yeol (aka ‘Miso’)
Park ‘Killer’ Joon Oh
Kim ‘Modesty’ Hyun Woo
Lee ‘JD’ Jae Dong, the runner-up of Season 1, turned down his seed, opening up an additional spot, forcing the organisers to create additional wildcard matches. Other notable players missing from KSL2 are Lee ‘Flash’ Young Ho, who also missed out on the first season due to scheduling conflicts, and Kim ‘EffOrt’ Jung Woo - both declined wildcard invitations, citing the need to focus on performing well in the ongoing AfreecaTV StarLeague.
