In case you’ve missed Kholat, it’s a pretty neat horror adventure, which is freely based on the Dyatlov Pass incident happened in 1959 in USSR. There was a group of nine tourists exploring the Ural Mountains, but their journey ended tragically. All of them were found dead, and the official investigation couldn’t tell the one and only reason behind those mysterious deaths.
There’re a lot of theories, and in 2019 the Russian government is once again verifying the results of the investigation, which is being constantly criticized. The incident is surrounded by conspirology and paranormal theories, which makes it a great foundation for a horror game. In Kholat, narrated by Sean Bean, you are tasked with uncovering the truth behind the tragedy. Well, it’s not the real truth, of course, as the game serves as yet another theory, but if you are looking for an atmospheric horror experience then Kholat is the way to go. Lucky for you, the game is currently free on Steam, and if you happen to add it to your library you are allowed to keep it forever.
Head on to the link and give it a go. It is worth noting that the Steam community is not overwhelmingly fascinated with the game as its user score stands at 66% of positive reviews. Still, a free offer is a free offer.
