John Wick screenwriter will make Just Cause movie

Just Cause will be the next series from Square Enix which will receive a movie adaptation. Derek Kolstad, the screenwriter for the John Wick franchise, will be the one responsible for the adventures of agent Rico Rodriguez.

German Constantin Film AG will be the production company, Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Films is the producer but we don't know who will direct the movie. According to close sources, Askarieh tried to start filming the adaptation for about 10 years.

The project looks intriguing on paper, as Just Cause initially drew inspiration from popular action films of the 90s and 00s, and Kolstad has already managed to create one truly cult hero. Perhaps this collaboration will be the first step for Square Enix on the road to successful adaptations after the not very pleasant experience with Tomb Raider.
