JD Gaming win the LPL 2020 Spring Playoffs

Last weekend brought the League of Legends Pro League 2020 Spring Playoffs to a close, with JD Gaming claiming victory over the remaining seven teams.

JD Gaming finished the Regular Season in second place, earning them a spot in the LPL Spring Playoffs’ Semifinals, in which they played FunPlus Phoenix. Winning the match 3-0, they advanced to the Finals, where they faced Top Esports. 

Top Esports, on the other hand, finished the Regular Season in fourth place, earning them a spot in the Quarterfinals. Here they defeated Team WE 3-1 to advance to the Semifinals where they beat Invictus Gaming 3-1 as well, taking them to the Finals against JD Gaming.

The Finals had the teams equally matched at first, but Top Esports eventually gave in to JD Gaming’s strength, ending the match at 3-2. FunPlus Phoenix won the 3rd place match against Invictus Gaming, 3-0.

Their victory in the LPL 2020 Spring Playoffs is a first for JD Gaming, and they did so in convincing fashion. This win earned them 60 regional points and would have awarded them a direct seed to the Mid-Season Invitational had it not been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
