Interview with a WePlay! Dota Underlords Open participant — MeNoHaxor ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!
Only eight players left in our tournament — the strongest and talented men. And we know that you're interested in learning more about each participant, so we talked with them about their plans and experience during WePlay! Dota Underlords Open.
Tell us about yourself. How old are you? Where are you from? What do you like to do besides playing video games?
I’m 24 years old, I’m from California, USA. Outside of games, I work a full-time job as a software engineer in Silicon Valley.
For how long had you been playing DAC or other autobattlers before switching to Underlords?
Honestly, not that much! I played some DAC and got to Bishop pretty easily, but didn’t play much more than that. Most of my time is actually spent playing League of Legends—I’ve been challenger for many years now, and really enjoy pushing myself to be as good as professionals in that game. I suppose that’s what really motivated me to try out Underlords and compete in this tournament!
Which member of our talent crew would you choose as your personal esports Godfather?
How will you spend the $8k prize you can get by winning?
I’ll spend it on a nice vacation.
What was most challenging during the qualifiers?
Being able to adapt to the new patch, both at the start of the qualifier, and in this last round for top 8. When all the tier lists gets thrown out the window and it’s left to your own interpretation of how to play the game, I think that’s a really strong test to how good a player is.
I also feel that I’m the least experienced player with DAC related games. But I think my years of playing challenger-level LoL has helped me adapt really quickly and pick up on new trends really quickly. I don’t think I would have been able to adjust to all these new patches very easily otherwise.
How many hours have you spent playing Underlords?
Before the tournament, less than 50 hours. Most of my time was spent playing LoL.
What do you love and what do you hate the most in Dota Underlords?
I love the endless amount of strategies and team compositions that you can make. Part of what makes the game so fun is being willing to adapt really quickly and make smart decisions.
I really dislike the Deadeye tag, it's honestly pretty bad for what it does. I'm surprised they didn't change it during this most recent patch.
How many Underlords’ three-star Axes (★ ★ ★) do you think it would take to defeat the Axe from Artifact?
♥The Axe from Artifact is too powerful, nothing can defeat it.
If you had the ability of Arc Warden – effortlessly producing a perishable copy of you — what would be the first thing you'd do with it?
I'd have it go to work for me so that I can play more video games!
Which character are you looking forward to being added to the Dota Underlords roster?
Rubick would be amazing! He’s one of my favorite heroes to play in Dota. I’d love to see him steal abilities and use them frequently during a fight.
Legion Commander would also be really cool. If she had the duel ability and gained permanent dmg that persisted across rounds, I think that’d be a really interesting decision.
How many more patches do you think it will take to make the Shaman tag viable?
I don’t think Shaman is that bad. I think it’s a pretty reasonable pairing with Primordials since Enigma and Arc warden cover both tribes, and late game with Disruptor + Kunkka, you can easily wipe out any team by draining all their mana.
Maybe shadow shaman should be reworked though, he’s pretty awful. Having him with the shackles from Dota 2 might be interesting.
