Intel Grand Slam season 3 begins on Thursday at IEM Chicago. Three more IGS events have been announced for 2019, with a potential fourth, IEM Beijing teased by ESL. These events are;
IEM Chicago - July 18-21
ESL One New York - September 26-29
DreamHack Masters Malmö - October 1-6
ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals - December
IEM Beijing - November (unconfirmed)
A $1 million prize is still being offered to the team that wins four IGS tournaments hosted by ESL and Dreamhack. These wins must be within a span of ten events, with at least one win from a designated Masters level competition. IEM Katowice and ESL One Cologne are two such eligible Master tournaments in 2020. In the absence of a Masters level win, six tournament victories will be required within ten events instead.
Team Liquid received the $1 million dollar prize after it won the Intel Grand Slam season 2 at ESL One Cologne within 144 days. Winning four events in a row, Team Liquid broke Astralis' season 1 record by 379 days. Had this new rule been in place for season 2, Team Liquid still would have won the prize, but the same can't be said for Astralis.
