As reported by Polish esports news website Weszło Esport, the city council of Katowice have just pushed through a recent bill regarding the support of Intel Extreme Masters tournaments in the capital of Silesia. The bill, initially submitted by the city’s Mayor, Marcin Krupa, in August, mentions that the city intends to allocate 12,500,000 PLN (~3,359,760 USD) towards the co-organisation and promotion of the IEM World Championships and supporting events in Katowice.

The 2019 edition of IEM Katowice is set to last over three weeks, mainly due to the Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament having been raised to the rank of a Major. Ticket sales are expected to go live this week.
