Yesterday marked the start of IEM Katowice 2020’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament. Bringing together some of the best teams from around the world, the Group Stage kicked off with two double-elimination groups of eight.
In Group A, Astralis had no trouble defeating Cloud9, and neither did Team Vitality against Ninjas in Pyjamas. FaZe Clan took the first game in their match against Natus Vincere, but the Ukrainian team turned things around in the following two games. Facing Renegades, Fnatic secured a 2-0 win, which sends them to the next Upper Bracket round.
Group B saw only a little action with just two games played from the Opening Round. In their game against TYLOO, mousesports defeated their opponents 2-0, while G2 Esports did the same against 100 Thieves.

Group A

Group B

- 100 Thieves vs. G2 Esports - 0:2
The last matches of the first round will take place today. These will be followed by the Lower and Upper Bracket rounds for Group A. The winners from each group will advance to the Playoff Semifinals while second and third-place teams will proceed to the Quarterfinals.
The IEM Katowice 2020 CS:GO tournament, also known as the Intel Extreme Masters XIV - World Championship, will end on March 1, 2020, and features a $500,000 prize pool.
