About two weeks ago, SNK teased a collaboration with Tencent's extremely popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) for mobile, Honor of Kings. Today, SNK revealed the identity of the upcoming DLC character.
Gongsun Li is a bunny eared ranged character from the MOBA that uses a parasol in battle. Making the shift to Samurai Shodown, she brings her parasol and explosive attacks with her. No longer the long range fighter she was in her original title, Gongsun Li gracefully strikes with her parasol in a variety of ways. The teleporting, bunny hopping fighter also adds a fiery component to her attacks, and is seemingly able to control close and midrange distances.
The Honor of Kings crossover character arrives on August 5 at no extra cost to players that already own the game. She is the second guest character to arrive, but wasn't introduced until after the second season of additional content was supposedly completed with the addition of For Honor's Warden.
No mention has been made of a third season of DLC, but it's possible SNK has more announcements for the game planned. The company is scheduled to make an appearance in the Japan Fighting Games Publisher Roundtable livestream this Saturday on August 1 in Japan.
Samurai Shodown was released on June 25, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It has since launched on arcade, Stadia, Nintendo Switch and PC as well.
