North American esports organization Complexity Gaming has partnered with furniture company Herman Miller, making them the org’s official seating partner.
In addition to this, Herman Miller is the title sponsor of Complexity’s Innovation Lab at its GameStop Performance Center. Together they will utilize real-time player data acquired from the lab to produce ergonomic gaming equipment to better suit player needs. These content pieces will focus on the best gaming practices and injury prevention.
Complexity Gaming founder and CEO, Jason Lake said in a release regarding the deal:
“Herman Miller is globally recognized for ergonomics and design innovation, and is a perfect partner to develop new advantages for our players. Through this unprecedented partnership, we will research and develop findings that educate gamers, increase wellness, improve player performance, extend professional careers, and increase the overall quality of life for not only Complexity players but gamers around the world.”
Herman Miller is just one of the many strategic partnerships Complexity has secured over the years. Some notable ones are Extra Life, GameStop, the U.S. Army, WinStar World Casino, MillerCoors, HyperX, and Twitch.
Herman Miller VP of Global Seating, Diane Turnwall also commented on the deal:
“At Herman Miller, we have a robust history of ergonomic research and human-centered design, which we’re excited to apply to the esports community. As our first foray into esports, we are applying our research capabilities in the Herman Miller Innovation Lab to study alongside some of the best players and trainers in the industry to understand how our designs can address the points of struggle. The partnership is not only mutually beneficial to our respective companies but also casts wide-bearing advantages for gamers around the world.”
This deal sees both parties emphasizing improving the design of chairs and other equipment used by gamers today. Besides comfort, the deal also focuses on injury prevention, which isn’t mentioned often.
