The original Dark Souls is a brilliant game on its own, but what if you could travel Lordan in a completely re-imagined way? That's what a new mod titled Dark Souls: Daughters of Ash has to offer. Developed by a devoted fan by the nickname Grimrukh, this mod aims to overhaul most of the in-game systems and aspects as well as add a ton of new content.
You get to confront new enemies, complete new quests, find new loot, learn new mechanics, and of course die countless times while fighting absolutely new bosses. That's right, your flawless execution of boss-fights - thanks to learning each and every move the enemies make - won't help you this time, as you are about to step into the unknown. This is not a completely different game though. Daughters of Ash doesn't deny the existing lore - but instead expands it and makes the game world deeper. That's how Grimrukh describes his work:
Dark Souls: Daughters of Ash is the original Dark Souls, re-imagined and massively expanded. It's my vision of what Dark Souls might have been if From Software had been given an additional six months to develop content for the game.
The mod features a lot of stuff. First and foremost we've got new bosses that are designed in such a fashion so that you find yourself learning new gameplay tricks and skills to successfully battle them. Brand new quests are also included, and you have a chance to learn more about the game world and lore with the help of new in-game events. There're obviously some existing bugs yet, and you'd be happy to learn that Grimrukh hasn't abandoned his mod and is constantly releasing fresh updates.
Right now the modification only works with the original Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for PC, but the creator aims to release another version supporting Dark Souls: Remastered during 2019. You can view the additional details on Nexus Mods.
