Last week, we reported that Russian player danflesh111 beat Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in a little over 50 minutes. Over the last couple of days, this record was bitten a couple of times.
The new world record of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice speedrun in Any% category (reach the credits screen at any cost) belongs to LostFeather. He finished the game in 39m 13s.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a real treat for speed runners, as this game has complicated mechanics and stage triggers. The game has lots of pitfalls and takes a lot of skill to beat on a normal run, let during a speedrun.
Wall jumping and Grappling Hook technics have been elevated to somewhere between an art and science. Though the developers didn’t emphasize the high precision of this aspect in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, speedrunners are abusing it to the best of their abilities.
There are several methods of cutting the Snake sequence. One of them includes poisoning dying from poison not far from resting place of the Snake, near a tiny sliver of land. Sekiro spawns at a later phase of the game and can kill the snake without engaging in a time-consuming close-quarters boss fight and getting through a fort full of enemies.
This trick breaks somehow breaks the game and Snake may reaper later, but it doesn’t impact your speedrun.
