The portal SensorTower reported on the revenue of free mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, dedicated to the universe of Joan Rowling. The application came out in the App Store and Google Play in April 2018. For four months the game has now grossed in excess of $55 million thanks to the system of in-game purchases. SensorTower`s data shows that first-time downloads in July grew about 11% up from the previous month.
The USA continues to spend the most on the game: accounting for about 47% of spending while Great Britain (the homeland of Harry Potter`s universe) makes up just over 9% of the total amount of purchases.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has repeatedly been criticized for an overly aggressive monetization system. Without donating the gameplay is delayed, because each action requires a certain expenditure of resources. Players have to either wait until the resources are restored, or buy them in the store.
