In order to qualify for the IEM World Championship, a team must secure Top 8 at Worlds while being the top performing team from their region. With no other EU and NA teams left at Worlds, H2K and Cloud9 recieved the invites. In addition, H2K and Cloud9 will not be eligible to compete at either IEM Oakland or IEM Gyeonggi as they have all been invited to the IEM World Championship.
The two teams join Albus Nox Luna at the event. Albus Nox Luna earned their ticket to the event after placing second in Group A of Worlds, becoming the first International Wild Card team to reach the Top 8 in the process.
IEM Katowice will take place in March 2017 in Katowice, Poland.
