Epic Games decided to bypass the Google Play store

Fortnite is out on Android but the release differs from most mobile apps. Epic Games decided to bypass the official Google Play store and distribute the game exclusively on their own.

According to the SensorTower's report, Google is missing about $50 million because of this decision. Fortnite for iOS, launched in March, has made about $180 million. Apple gets 30% of in-app purchases and it means that the company`s profit is around $54 million for today.

SensorTower believes that the profit of the Android-version will be similar. Someone, however, concerns that the unconventional method of downloading may hurt in turn revenue, but in the long run these losses are minimal.

You can download Fortnite for Android right on the Epic Games website. But you'll need a powerful smartphone to play comfortably, as developers say “battle royale requires high-end models”. Anyway, it’s a big day for Epic Games and Fortnite fans who can play their favourite game on the new platform.
