Many a pro has avoided including Gill in their Street Fighter V: Championship Edition tier lists due to how new he is and the fact that he’s being studied for all his strengths and weaknesses. An unintentional bug has now been discovered, which also means there could be more left to find.
The bug causes your opponent to sort of fall out of Gill’s Critical Art when used in a particular combo. Once the opponent quick rises afterward, the hits will be unscaled and unblockable. You can pull this off by using Gill's V-Trigger 2 to create a freeze trap directly underneath your opponent. Now transition into Gills launcher and cancel into his horizontal projectile. Finally, dash forward and execute his Critical Art.
The ice trap will trigger and juggle the opponent for a short while as Gill’s Critical Art animation commences. From this point, the animation becomes unblockable if the opponent tries to quick rise. Damage from it will also be unscaled since its sort of the beginning of a new combo.
It’s only a matter of time before Capcom fixes the bug in a future patch. Until then, though, just don’t quick rise to avoid activating the exploit.
