Here comes a special summer event for Rocket League which will bring us a bunch of pretty-looking nostalgy-heartwarming 80s cars. They will be time limited models, so if you want to try kicking the ball with Ghostbusters' Ecto-1 or Knight Rider's K.I.T.T., just launch the game on June, 10th.
Psyonix, Rocket League's developers, made an official statement that says: "Grab your aviator shades and mixtapes, and prepare to go back in time to experience the most righteous movies, television, and culture from the decade." It looks like we're having a biggest ever event made for the game.
Radical Summer will continue for nine weeks. Besides the old-school cars, there will come a couple of cosmetic items for current ones, a list of special tasks to compete and a limited Ghost Hunt mode, where teams use their proton beams to bring the ball into their opponents containment zone, as well as Spike Rush mode, where each car has the spike power-up that can carry the ball. There will also appear Beach Ball: "2v2 action with a larger ball, low ball gravity, and the Curveball mutator activated. So enjoy this sunny, feel-good mode that is worthy of a classic '80s beach volleyball montage". You can read more on the official Rocket League site.
Radical Summer consists of three phases. Each one has its modes and skins. There will be the 80s blockbusters phase from June 10 to July 1, 80s culture from July 1 to July 22, and 80s television from July 22 to August 12.
Psyonix says that Ecto-1 and K.I.T.T. may become purchasable even after the event is over. The developers would like to have feedback from players if these modes are good and will it be worth returning them.
