On Sunday at the O2 Arena in London, Germany's Mohammed "MoAuba" Harkous defeated Saudi Arabia's Mossad "Msdossary" Aldossary in the FIFA eWorld Cup grand final. He also received $250,000 as first prize for the tournament.
MoAuba beat MSdossary 3-2 in two legs during the grand final. Each leg was played on a different platform format, the first being Xbox and the second PlayStation 4. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, but in the second MoAuba was able to come out on top with 2-1.
The tournament began on Friday, pitting 32 teams against each other. It generated 58 hours of streaming content which was broadcast in six languages and across multiple platforms.
"It's crazy. I didn't expect this and it's unbelievable. I came here without practising much because it's the end of the season. But I beat Msdossary so it's crazy, " said an excited MoAuba as he attributed part of his success to luck.
MoAuba plays for the German sports club, Werder Bremen and with this victory becomes Germany's first champion since the tournament series began in 2004.
