Gen.G Esports (Generation Gaming) has announced its partnership with the location-based dating and social application, Bumble.
Together they launch the organisation's first all-female squad called "Team Bumble" or "Gen.G Empowered by Bumble", which will compete in Fortnite. Bumble will also act as the team's jersey sponsor.
The app will launch a gaming badge for its users to indicate that they enjoy playing and/or watching video games. Head of new gaming initiatives at Gen.G Esports, Kristen “KittyPlays” Valnicek also partners with Bumble to collaborate on content, events and live-streaming activations.
Saira Mueller, Head of US Content for Gen.G Esports had this to say about the deal: “Here at Gen.G we really pride ourselves on providing the best resources and support for all of our pro players—regardless of their gender. Now, with Bumble on board, we can level up our support of Maddie, Tina, Carlee, and Hannah, who are some of the best female Fortnite players in the world. I’m excited to see where Team Bumble takes them and how it shifts the narrative for women in esports as a whole.”
Gen.G Esports, formerly known as KSV Esports (Korea + Silicon Valley), owns the Overwatch League franchise, Seoul Dynasty. It also has teams in other games like PUBG, League of Legends, Call of Duty and Apex Legends.
