Setting and plot without spoilers

The Trine series has three released chapters (Trine, Trine 2, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power) and one upcoming (Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince). All of them can be played both in the single and multiplayer modes. Each part has differences, but since the fourth part isn't live yet, we'll tell you about the series in general and stop on the third chapter in particular. 

The Trine game is a platformer and has three main (and the only, by the way) characters — Zoya the Thief, Amadeus the Wizard and Pontius the Knight. Like you can suggest, a noble Knight must build a castle, cage the dragon and raise a son. A wise Wizard must build a tower, got glasses and grow a long grey beard. And the thief must rob the Wizard's tower, the Knight's castle and the dragon's cage for her pleasure. Trine offers all these systems put into one dimension in the form of an exciting cocktail with various puzzles.

All you have to do is to run forward, solving many interesting and sometimes challenging puzzles. In fact, the developers had some plot for this game, so the players have the purpose. But everything fades away when you see the environment of the game. Just take a look at a couple of screenshots:

It's hard to imagine the game with more colourful setting. The designers did their best through the series.

Unlike its predecessors, the third part has the third dimension - the first and the second Trine were 2D-platformers. The game developers told that the 3D graphics implementation was "complex and time-consuming", as the skills and abilities of the three playable characters had to be reworked and changed without changing the characteristics. As a result, they spent $ 5,4 million to release Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power on August 20, 2015, for Microsoft Windows. The PlayStation 4 version was announced on December 2015, and for Nintendo Switch on July 2019. 

Convince me

The path of the main trinity runs through eight levels, where the heroes have to perform jumping and climbing exercises typical for the platformers. Trine 3 is not inferior to the previous parts in the non-trivial fabulous surroundings. Each pebble on the seashore has its purpose, and the coast itself is delightful. Transparent, gentle blue waves rush onto the golden sand, a fresh tropical shadow beckons to lie down, even the coastal cliffs are beautiful. Trine 3 has few landscapes, but they are all unique, like a frozen forest with gigantic sequoias, and the enchanting halls of the Astral Academy, where little dragons lying in the corners. 

The tasks that developers scattered across the levels won't take by surprise those who played the previous parts or at least are familiar with platformers in general. Puzzles and solutions are well-known like a mechanic to set a box to jump higher or pull up the bridge and tie it to the ring and so on.

Such a set of puzzles isn't extraordinary or makes your mind shudder. The third game is even simpler than the second part. For example, there are no manipulations with steam and water. Nevertheless, we have various exciting situations that periodically force us to make up our minds.

This part is shorter than others, which is an advantage and the bad side at the same time. It's better to start with the first part if want to extend the pleasure and spend a lot of hours together in the game. But if you only want to "touch" this type of games - then Trine 3 is the best choice. 

My partner doesn't like videogames — how can I change his/her mind?

The rules are the same and simple:

• Show your partner this article or just the trailers.
• Tell him/her how exactly you would play together. It's better to use two PC for a good time together or you can play in turn.
• Make a deal with your partner to try a game for half an hour in return for something special for him/her. Anyway, you have three different parts to try.
