Valve managing director Gabe Newell talked about the prospects of Steam being on Windows 10.

“Obviously, we’re going too,” said Newell when asked about Steam running on Windows 10.

“Everybody in the PC space is going to benefit if the resources at Microsoft are working for good and not evil. But, I really can’t say that I’ve spent enough time thinking about the choices they’ve made with Windows 10 to have an opinion worth listening too,” he continued.

“But, when you see some the choices they were making in Windows 8; it’s pretty scary. It seems to sort of puts a straitjacket on the choices we might make, or our partners might make. At a time when the opportunities seem broader than we ever taught possible.”

Newell stated that he wants to see Microsoft allow “innovativeness” on the Windows 10 platform.

“Input innovation on the PC has been way to slow in last 5 years,” said Newell. “We think that [virtual reality] is sort of, naturally, a PC thing and we want to make sure that [for] both ourselves and other people that the inventiveness is critical for the long run.”
