Free-to-play Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox Live Gold owners this weekend

Microsoft tweeted that Halo 5: Guardians is free to download and play, from January 10 until the end of the weekend as a part of Xbox Free Play Days. We believe that this is an excellent chance for those who would like to familiarize themselves with the previous part of the series waiting for Halo Infinite release.

This opportunity is available for Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass owners. Moreover, during the free-to-play weekend, your XP will be doubled. The playlists like Holiday Fiesta and Castle Wars will also be available. The Holiday Fiesta playlist is designed to celebrate holidays and contains “snowy” versions of Halo 5 arena maps. In turn, Castle Wars is a large-scale flag capture mode that supports 16 players.

Halo 5: Guardians is a first-person shooter video game developed by the 343 Industries company exclusively for the Xbox One. The game released on October 27, 2015, and its events take place in the year 2558, eight months after the events of Halo 4.
