Forward Gaming CEO David Dashtoyan announced the organisation's closure due to its poor financial state. All employee contracts have been terminated, but players are also owed a month's salary and the sum of $36,000 in prize money.
The organisation's website was down for a couple of hours due to a database error but as of writing, the issue has been resolved. However, here's a mirror post on TwitLonger just incase the issue returns. The crash was most likely caused by too many fans visiting the site to read the sad news.
The players were made aware of the situation prior to closure in the hopes of finding a solution to the organisation's cash flow problems. This has lead to what appears to be an amicable parting between Forward Gaming and its former employees.
According to team manager Jack “KBBQ” Chen, the players will remain as a roster while they seek sponsorship to attend The International 2019. Considering last place at TI9 gets the sum of $75,000, the roster may not remain org-less for long. That amount could easily cover the expenses to get them to TI9, with better results meaning an even bigger payout.
