There's been another community awards ceremony recently titled the Gamers' Choice Awards. As you can imagine it was the same irrelevant fanboy-choice event as the Golden Joysticks, which brings us back to a conclusion that these kind of shows should not be based on a public poll. In case you disagree with this statement - we kindly invite you to take a look at our Golden Joysticks problem coverage.
The whole list of winners can be found through here. The Gamers' Choice Awards - held by CBS for the first time ever - was also dominated by Fortnite in the same fashion as the Golden Joysticks, but at least it was outright noted that the choice was actually made by fans. It's literally mentioned in the nominations. Let's take a look at the categories that list Fortnite as the winner - including the best game. Oh yeah, that's right:
- Fan Favorite Game: Fortnite
- Fan Favorite Multiplayer Game: Fortnite
- Fan Favorite Esports Game: Fortnite
- Fan Favorite Battle Royale Game: Fortnite
- Fan Favorite Gaming Moment: Drake plays [Fortnite] with Ninja
- Fan Favorite Esports Player (Fortnite): Ninja
- Fan Favorite Overall Esports Player: Ninja
- Fan Favorite Esports League Format: Fortnite - Community Skirmishes
Red Dead Redemption 2 for example has won a single silly nomination titled "Fan Favorite Fall Release", whereas God of War was only noted for the Christopher Judge's performance as Kratos. It's like Fortnite is all over the place. It's everywhere - and thanks to CBS it is hugely presented on TV as well. If there's to be a research far in the future you already know what exactly is going to be claimed as the plague of the 21st century.
