Fortnite pros got invited to the World Cup Finals as "alternate players" ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Some Fortnite pros have received emails from Epic Games, inviting them to attend the World Cup Finals as substitute players to fill in for those that are unable to compete.

The invites are being extended to "the top two most consistent Solo players or part of the top duo to not qualify, based on consistency of placements" during the 10 weeks of the open qualifiers. It includes a free flight and hotel to attend the event in New York City and if it turns out there's no need for a substitute, invited alternates will still be allowed to enjoy the event.

Visa issues are one of the major reasons why pros end up being unable to attend esports events. Although this doesn't help the denied players, it does mean that fans still get to enjoy the tournament with no missing competitors. Sadly, getting a visa in time could still be difficult for even some of the substitute players too, but it's still a great initiative from Epic Games to ensure the tournament lobby is full.

No official statement has been made regarding all the alternate players invited, nor if there are any qualified pros that won't be able to make it. However, the Fortnite World Cup is still ten days away, more than enough time to receive an update.
