Epic Games has officially introduced the so-called Reboot Van, which works exactly like the Respawn Beacons in Apex Legends. In other words, Fortnite is getting the very same mechanics of respawning teammates as in the aforementioned EA’s game. Why invent something new when you can literally make a copy with less effort?
In case you’ve played Apex Legends before, you know exactly how the system works. For the rest, there’s a short video guide for the newest replication addition to Fortnite. Once killed in action, your teammates drop new types of items – reboot cards. You can pick them up, and later any of the remaining teammates can approach the unused Reboot Van and call the fallen warrior builders back. Upon the arrival, the revived teammates are not being dropped from the skies – instead, they simply appear in the hologram on top of the Van one by one. At least Apex Legends has kept its unique animation of respawn dropships, which actually adds to the gameplay.
Still, the Reboot Vans will be capable of notifying the nearby enemy players by lighting the holographic beacons and making distinct noise. There’s even a Fortnite-only feature (finally, something not stolen), which lets the used Vans to reset back for another round of respawning over time. The new mechanics will be added to the game with the nearest update v8.30, which lands next week.
