Fnatic are heading into tomorrow's semi-finals against Luminosity with a dominant quarter-final victory over G2 (2-0; de_cache 16-8, de_inferno 16-2).

The first quarter-final of StarSeries XIV Finals kicked off day three, as

fnatic (second in group B) and
G2 (third in group A) found themselves crossing each other's paths.

The series started out on de_cache,

G2's choice, who also had to start on the Terrorist side after losing the initial knife round. A poorly executed A bombsite strategy cost them the first pistol round, as
fnatic were able to complete a retake.

Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer's triple on the A bombsite started a roll of rounds, as

G2 continued to struggle in piercing
fnatic's defence until the eighth round. After the 8th best team in the world got on the board with an A smoke-off, another one of such strategies ended up in a successful retake from the current number one.

G2 got a bit of breathing room after a triple from Håvard "rain" Nygaard in a 3-on-4 situation, and another triple from Kajbjer wasn't enough to exchange for a round. Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson then showcased his AWP skills with three kills before
G2 closed the halftime for a measly 4-11 score.

Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's smart 1-on-1 victory behind squeaky was evened out with a forcebuy response by Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad, who also helped G2 win the first gunround with a quad. The four-round streak was all G2 offered until the end of the map, as fnatic had little to no trouble closing map one out at 16-8.

fnatic's pick, de_inferno, started out with the Swedes overpowering the B bombsite as Terrorists without any issues, but running into a stack in the following anti-forcebuy evened out the score right at the start.

After fnatic replied back with a forcebuy of their own, they once again went on a long streak, this time for eight rounds in total, until G2 finally stopped it at 9-2. With no follow-up from the European mixture, fnatic were able to regain control quickly, and went over to the Counter-Terrorists with a decisive 13-2 lead. Three rounds afterwards it game was over, as G2 weren't able to string the pistol round together.

And here is the first of the StarSeries XIV Finals semifinalists - fnatic!
