The first couple of rounds on de_train were extremely highly contested as the teams traded round for round. After that, however, fnatic dictated the pace of the game and won several rounds in a row as NiP struggled to keep their defense tight. The rounds edged out by the ninjas were few and far between, and so it was with little surprise that fnatic enjoyed a comfortable 11-4 lead at the end of the half.

Things went from bad to worse for NiP in the second half as fnatic won the pistol round and the following two anti-ecos to take their lead to 14-4. It was then that the ninjas' offense finally came to life as they won five straight rounds, but then fnatic picked up two in a row to seal a 16-9 success.

The following map was de_dust2, where a 1vs2 clutch from Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund in the pistol round put NiP in the lead. That was the start of a fantastic run that saw NiP take a 5-0 lead before fnatic finally put their foot down to hold back their opponents. A quad kill from Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer put fnatic back in the game and powered the team to go on a red-hot seven-round winning streak. Still, NiP kept their composure and won the final three rounds of the half to take a narrow 8-7 half-time lead.

The second half began with NiP winning the pistol round - thanks to a triple kill from Aleksi "allu" Jalli - and the first anti-eco round to extend their lead to 10-7. A sensational quad kill from Dennis "dennis" Edman with the Desert Eagle gave fnatic a much-needed lifeline, but NiP never lost control of the game and took six of the following seven rounds to seal a 16-9 win and level the series.

de_mirage was the decider map, and here NiP came out of the gate with fire in their belly as they dominated proceedings early on and cruised to a 7-0 lead. A no-nonsense B push then finally gave fnatic their first round on the board, and NiP struggled to keep their opponents at bay during the final stages of the half, with only three rounds separating the two sides at the break.

During the initial stages of the second half, rounds went back and forth, but then NiP let their lead slip away as fnatic overturned a 7-11 deficit to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory and pick up their second title in the space of week.

fragbite Masters Season 5 final standings:

1. fnatic - $25,800

2. NiP - $14,300

3. SK Gaming - $10,300

4. Question Mark - $6,900
