First look at the Ottoman Empire in Civilization 6: Gathering Storm

A few days ago we reported about Sweden's inclusion in Civilization 6: Gathering Storm which is a faction of choice in case you stick to nonviolent ways of reaching the victory. The Ottoman Empire, on the contrary, lets you destroy your opponents with military force. Being the newest addition to Gathering Storm, the Ottoman Empire is in the spotlight in the new trailer.

The Ottomans are being led by Suleiman - best known by his title Suleiman the Magnificent. The leader of the faction has historically joined the conquests to expand his empire, and be sure to follow the same pattern in Gathering Storm. Suleiman's unique trait in Civilization 6 in called Grand Vizier and allows the player to unlock a unique governor Ibrahim who is the only one of his type to be established in another civilization. The overall unique ability of Ottomans is the Great Turkish Bombard which greatly adds to siege mechanics making your units a lot more effective.

The unique unit of the faction is the Janissary which serves as a replacement to Musketmen and is both stronger and cheaper to build. This is a great force to use in the respective era to establish your control over the surrounding cities which can be used later to hire even more Janissaries. Another unique unit is a naval one - so-called the Barbary Corsair. And the unique building is the Grand Bazaar which replaces the Bank.
