Back in October 2018, Google filed a patent for its new device, which turned out to be a gaming controller. And now we have a clear look at what the controller might be “in flesh” thanks to the recent leak of a few promotional images, which correspond with the patent.

As you can see on the images below, Google’s controller has an average set of buttons and sticks. Bottom analog joysticks are placed in the fashion of Sony’s DualShocks, and the same similarity applies to the directional pad, which is a single whole piece – just like it is on a regular PlayStation controller. There’re no text or symbolic indications on the right four buttons, which are only differentiated by Google’s corporate colours. A few other buttons, located on the front, are likely tied to Android features. Regarding the form factor, the controller makes an overall impression of a bulky and awkward device, which doesn’t look comfortable to hold in your hands.

Google is expected to have its own panel at GDC 2019, which is coming in a few weeks. Leaked images might be the very first official materials concerning the controller, and it’s highly likely that the device will be announced at the aforementioned conference.
