Final Fantasy XV is a game where you can do many interesting activities. One of them is related to finding the royal arms, a very powerful set of weapons. Your first encounter with any of the royal arms will be during chapter two of the main storyline. While playing with Noctis, you will have to go to a royal tomb alongside Cor Leonis to retrieve the first of the mighty weapons. Apart from there, you will also find more of them in your future missions. However, the vast majority of the weapons are spread throughout the open world, making them a lot harder to come by unless you know specifically where to look for them.

Here is where this guide will come in handy. To make it easier for you, we will divide them into two - the first ones are those which can be found during the storyline whereas the rest are located in the open world. Let's take a look at all royal arm weapons and their locations.

Final Fantasy 15 royal arms unlocked through the main storyline

  • The first one is obtainable during a quest called "Legacy" in the second chapter.  The weapon is called "Sword of the Wise" and it looks pretty cool.
  • Axe of the Conqueror is the second royal arm and it can also be unlocked in the second chapter. If you are interested, start a quest called "The Power of Kings"
  • The third chapter also has its royal arm - the Sword of the Wanderer. You can get your hands on it as a part of "The Sword in the Waterfall" quest.
  • While completing "The Archaean" quest in chapter four, you will get Blade of the Mystic, a pretty impressive royal arm weapon.
  • Unfortunately, there are no royal arms during the next four chapters. The Katana of the Warrior is obtainable from "The Hand of the King" quest in chapter ten.
  • Trident of the Oracle is a royal arms weapon that you can get from the quest "Breath of the Glacian" in the twelfth chapter.
  • Last, but definitely not least, the Sword of the Father is unlocked in chapter 13 while doing the quest "A King's Struggle".

Royal Arms Weapons spread in the Open World of Final Fantasy XV

So, after you get the weapons mentioned above, it is time to focus on the hard part. Some of the items mentioned here are only obtainable in dungeons and as you can probably guess, you will be able to get them only after you deal with the final bosses there which are not easy at all, especially those who are very high level.

On the contrary, those which can't be found in dungeons are usually easier to get as long as you know where to look for. Sometimes they might be in the most obvious spot but you might end up missing them.

  • The first weapon here is called Mace of the Fierce and it is hidden at the very end of the Rock Ravatogh dungeon. In order to stand a chance here, you must be at least level 30, otherwise, it will not be a pleasant experience. Once you go to the top of the mountain you need to go to a big canyon there right next to the campsite. Upon arriving, you will see there is a massive cave as well which has a big entrance and a small crack on its right side. Contrary to popular opinion, it is a lot easier to go through that crack because you will directly go to the dungeon's final boss. However, if you wish the complete the entire thing, just go through the entrance.
  • The Shield of the Just is one of the strongest royal arms weapons you can get. What's more, it is also one of the easiest to get because you just need to go to a tomb located north of the Secullum Pass parking spot. Just go there and look around a bit, you can't really miss it.
  • The next weapon is located at the very end of the Myrlwood Forest dungeon. In order to deal with the enemies there, you need to be above level 35. When you kill the final boss, you will get the Star of the Rogue.
  • The Scepter of the Pious is the next royal arm weapon which is obtainable in the open world. Similar to the previous one, this scepter is also located in a dungeon which requires you to be at least level 35 if you don't want to have any problems finishing it. The dungeon is called "Malmalam Thicket" and in order to access it, you have to go to the southwest corner of the world map. Keep it in mind that the journey to this place will take some time but when you arrive, you will instantly notice the entrance to the dungeon. You will be able to access the item as soon as you kill the dungeon's final boss.
  • This royal arm weapon is hidden in the Balouve Mines dungeon which is actually one of the hardest ones in the game. Most of the enemies inside are not that hard to kill if you play your cards right. However, the final boss is very strong and requires special preparation to even have a chance of defeating him. That's why it is advisable to be at least level 50 to stand a chance here.
As soon as you enter the dungeon, try locating where the metal staircases are. When you locate them, look for a small crack in the walls there. It is located in the middle so it shouldn't be that hard to find it. This crack will allow Noctis to climb through the wall and go directly to the boss. When you kill him, you will open the royal tomb and claim the Bow of the Clever

  • The last royal arm weapon is called The Sword of the Tall and it looks absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, getting it is definitely easier said than done because you have to kill none other than Jabberwock. In case you have no idea who that is, let's just say that he is a massive dragon-like creature which deals tons of damage.
In order to meet him, you need to go to the end of Costlemark Tower. Finding this place is tricky because you need to search for its entrance southeast from the Disc in a very strange area called Fallgrove.
Jabberwock is level 58 and as mentioned, he is one strong fella. However, he also has a lot of weaknesses such as his slow speed and bad maneuverability. That's why you need to try and abuse this as much as possible if you want to have an easier time. Also, this boss is very susceptible when you attack him from behind so always try to take advantage of this.
