Final call for EVO Online 2020! If you are wanting to sign up for an open event, now is the time!

EVO Online 2020 registration was set to close on June 28, however, following a tweet by EVO president Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar, the deadline was extended to June 30 at 7 pm CT.

This year the biggest fighting game tournament moves online with a smaller lineup of games and region locks in place for participants. All these choices are to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 and ensure that competitors have the best online experience during the event.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Them’s Fightin’ Herds, Killer Instinct, and Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath are the titles available in the open brackets. Entry is free, but those that choose to pay $25 to support COVID-19 relief efforts will receive an EVO Online badge and lanyard. 100% of the proceeds goes to Project HOPE, the global health and humanitarian organization.

These games were selected for their exceptional netplay, but since the distance of competitors could also adversely affect matches, the event was locked to three regions. These regions are North America, South Korea & Japan, and Europe. Spread across five weeks, each weekend will host on title each, with the Top 8 for all games taking place on the final weekend, July 31-August 2.

There are still a couple of hours left before the deadline, but participants should bear in mind the platform each game will be played on, as they aren’t the same. Here’s a look at the schedule and platforms for EVO Online 2020

  • Them’s Fightin’ Herds (PlayStation 4): July 4-5

  • Skullgirls 2nd Encore (Steam): July 11-12

  • Killer Instinct (Windows 10): July 18-19

  • Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath (Steam): July 25-26

All Top 8 players from each region will receive an EVO Online medal. In addition, the Top 4 placers receive prizes from PlayStation and ASTRO Gaming, while the champion also takes home an EVO Online trophy.
