Final call for Evo 2019 registration ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Evo 2019, the world's biggest fighting game tournament returns in less than a month. Registration closes this weekend, so aspiring champions have till Sunday July 14 to signup. The official Evo Twitter account stated this yesterday and provided a series of links to event registration, hotel booking and event tickets.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has consistently held first place in Evo 2019 registrations while second place has seen a number of changes. Tekken 7 has presently overtaken Street Fighter V but by the next update, they could either be tied reversed once more.

Mortal Kombat 11 lost fourth place to Samurai Shodown, SNK's latest release which only hit shelves on June 27. Samurai Shodown was announced as a tournament title well before its launch and though not a new franchise, the series hasn't seen an original release since Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny in 2010.

Last week, Evo organiser Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar put up a Twitter poll to decide which game should close the event out on Sunday. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently in the lead with 57%, Tekken 7 follows as a distant second at 26%. Street Fighter V is third with 12% and last is Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle bearing only 4%. Considering the poll won't be available for much longer and the number of votes between first and second is quite large, its highly likely that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will end up being Sunday's game.
