Can you agree that everyone wants to make their own efforts in the development of such a long-awaited brilliant game as Cyberpunk 2077? So active Canadian-American feminist Anita Sarkeesian expressed her fears that Cyberpunk 2077 developers may not cope with their duties. In this regard, the woman offered her help to CD Projekt Red as a consultant on the women and other sexes appearance in the game.
The scandal began with the recent discontent towards the company and their latest trailer: the activists didn't like the appearance of a female transgender on one of the posters in the game.
After Cyberpunk 2077 revealed at E3 2019, the audience split into two camps. While some admired the production, directing, and Keanu Reeves himself, others set off to look in trailers for something that might offend them. As a result, developers were accused of transphobia.
Background: Anita Sarkeesian is the founder of the Feminist Frequency website, which features videos and comments analyzing the image of women in popular culture. She is also infamous for launching her project on Kickstarter in 2012, which resulted in Internet harassment. The initial request for the project development was $6.000 but was exceeded more than 20 times and collected $160.000. Anita also appeared as a speaker at the TEDxWomen conference, where she discussed her experience in dealing with cyber-harassment, as well as issues of improving sexual involvement in gaming and popular culture.
